Hello! I am Kal, owner of PRAIRIEFIREBEADS! I am a Métis Artist, and a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario. All the beadwork and jewelry i sell is handmade by me! I am currently based and live in Mississauga.

Who are the Métis?
The Métis are 1 of the 3 Indigenous groups in Canada, alongside First Nations and Inuit.
Métis beadwork is widely known for it's intricate floral patterns, the Métis are referred to by many as "the flower beadwork people."
Recently there have been issues surrounding those who falsely use Métis and Indigenous identities for profit or personal gain, I'd like to be as transparent as possible. I am Red River Métis on my Mothers side, and I was raised by my Mother and her side of the family. You can find my genealogy starting with my Grandmother, below. Lets see if we're related! Genealogy
What Inspires You?
I am inspired by the nature in Canada, wildflowers you find walking outside, the sky, plants, animals, and sometimes just silly things! My goal is to learn all I can, and share that knowledge with others along the way. I am extremely grateful to all the people who have taught me what I know so far, whether that be through groups, in person, zoom workshops, YouTube, or Tiktok! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me, and to others!
Why PRAIREFIREBEADS?
As for the name PRAIRIEFIREBEADS, prairie fire flowers (also known as Indian paintbrushes) are a bright and beautiful flower that grow on the prairies; as well as many other places in the Americas and Asia. Their bright orange, red, pink, and yellow hues growing in a field look like fire from a distance. I chose this flower for my name as a tribute to my childhood, picking prairie fire flowers with my Grandmother on her farmland.
